The LRCS team was founded in 2011 by Maria Alessandra Panzanelli Fratoni, coordinator until 2014, as a cross-sectoral structure for all the libraries of the University of Perugia.

"Rare Books and Special Collections", which includes the following categories:

Ancient books, that is to say books that were produced with manual technology (approx. 1450-1830);

Non-book materials (photographs, archival documents, art, scientific collections);

Collections holding a special importance for the institution in charge of their preservation, such as those donated by professors, researchers, scholars and those that constitute a testimony of the scientific activity carried out over time within the University itself.

Currently, the LRCS team, consisting of Monica Fiore (Coordinator), Sabrina Boldrini, Roberta De Martino and Brunella Spaterna,  members of the group from the beginning.

Since 2012, the LRCS Team has taken on the endeavor to activate and manage the consultation service for the materials stored in both the Hall of Graduates and the Historical Archive of the University of Perugia.
